Privacy policy
Last updated 1 October 2026 · Applies to the Nightjar app for Android and nightjarofficial.com
01Who we are
Nightjar is a free shift-work calendar app for Android, published on Google Play by Avalanche Byte, an independent developer based in Romania. This policy explains what data the app and this website handle, and what your choices are.
02Your rota stays on your phone
Everything you enter in Nightjar - your shift pattern, shift types, edited days, notes, alarms and pay settings - is stored only on your device. Nightjar has no accounts and no servers, and we never see, collect or transmit your calendar data.
If Android Backup is turned on for your device, Android may back your data up to your own Google Drive under Google's terms. When you export your shifts (to Google Calendar, as an .ics or CSV file, as an image, or as a rota share code), the export is created on your phone and goes only where you choose to send it.
03Advertising
The free app is funded by advertising served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process:
- device identifiers, such as the advertising ID;
- approximate location, derived from your IP address;
- app interaction and diagnostic information.
You can read how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
04Your choices
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you are asked for consent before any ads are served, and you can review or withdraw your consent at any time in the app under Settings › Privacy options.
In Settings you can also watch one sponsor message to turn every ad off for 24 hours. You can reset or delete your device's advertising ID at any time in your Android system settings.
05Data deletion requests
Nightjar has no account and keeps no server copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf: uninstalling the app removes your rota, shifts, notes and pay settings from your phone, and any backup file you saved to your own Google Drive can be deleted from Drive.
The only data that leaves your device is the advertising data described above, which is held by Google, not by us. To reset or delete your advertising ID, open Android Settings › Privacy › Ads (on some phones Settings › Google › Ads) and choose “Reset advertising ID” or “Delete advertising ID”.
For any other deletion request, email [email protected] with the subject “Nightjar data deletion” and we will confirm within 30 days. Google's retention of advertising data is governed by Google's privacy policy linked above.
06This website
nightjarofficial.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Its fonts, icons and images are all served from this domain, so reading it makes no requests to anyone else.
If you switch between the Day and Night Edition, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the page remembers it; it never leaves your browser. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical connection data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
07Children
Nightjar is a work tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
08Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
